What a scorching heat wave we’ve been through. It’s made it very difficult to do much work (at least for me,). But I’ve been able to do a little bit. So some updates:
Mobile Art Walk
SkrubbWOOD has been accepted as a vendor at LoDa Art Walk in Mobile. The last two months have been hot, but it’s been great to meet all kinds of new people.
Market Cart
One aspect of doing markets that I didn’t really think about originally is the amount of hauling my stuff around for setup/teardown. I’ve seen a good number of other vendors use the collapsible wagons (very popular with parents and beach goers). I had been thinking about getting one, but after some research found that they are just a little small for my needs. So…..I built my own. I give to you SkrubbKart v1.0
CUSTOM ORder Option
I’m working on getting a new “Custom Order” display to use at markets. At the moment we really have been specializing in writing pens. But there’s a huge selection of specialty pens that I’d love to make for customers but can’t justify the expense of pre-making. I’m sure there are individuals that want a cat themed pen, but I don’t want to just make ten and hope someone likes them. So instead, I think I’ll start by making a collection of single examples that customers can see and touch. If they are really interested, then I can order the materials and make them on demand. We’ll see how that goes.
- First Showby skrubbwood
First market went well. We were there for opening day (May 6) of Market in the Park in Cathedral Square, Mobile, AL. Was a bit early in the day, but weather was nice, good compliments and good times were had. I’ll definitely be back!
While the day of the market was easy, it’s taken me over a week to start to recover from the mad dash of making pens and bottle stoppers. Hopefully, I now have enough starter stock to work at a more sustainable pace.

Just getting started here. Please be patient as there still plenty of startup stuff to go!
